About Me

So you want to know more about me, huh?  I sort of figured that when I saw you come through the door.  But what about me caught your attention?  With any luck, it was my writing… what?  Yes, I wrote those, thanks for asking.  But you want more?  Hmmm, where to begin…

I started writing short stories in the first grade (the Ciphers girl even helped me to bind it).  I called it “The Case of the Puppy’s Bark”.  Unfortunately, I couldn’t quite figure out how to put the pages together properly, so the end result was random pages, all stitched together in an order that was quite confusing and frustrating to my first grade mind.  Still, I had finished, hadn’t I?

As I became a very young teen, I used to take my brother and sister on long walks and drag them into my tree house.  It was in those places that my first tale weaving really started taking place.  Some of the stories I told them have evolved into the chapters of “The Waterfall Stone”.

I always promised them that one day I would write down those stories, but for many years, I never did.

Back around 2001, my daughter started taking an interest in writing on a website called The Young Writer’s Club.  In an attempt to connect with her, I started writing in a collaborative story she was doing with some other friends.

Soon that story became too big to keep there, so my daughter and I went on to create a website called Bombdiggity.Org.  From 2002 until 2008, I wrote in various stories on Bombdiggity with my daughter, as well as moderated the site, posting many of my own poems and short stories and encouraging my daughter and many others in their writing along the way.

In late 2008, with my daughter about to turn twenty, I decided that it was time for me to move on (at least for now), and to actually start putting my stories to paper.  I temporarily closed up Bombdiggity and embarked on my writing adventure.

That leads us to where we are today.  My first short story that I sent anywhere was “El Presidente Hotel – The Last Dance”.  It was a short story I wrote for an online production company that called themselves “Hotel Guignol” (I don’t think anything has come of that project, but the story was fun anyway).    I wrote two other short stories during that time, one was a zombie short story, and another was a collaborative effort horror short with my close friend Marty called “Trick or Treat”.

My appetite was whet, and I decided it was time to try my first novel.  The first draft of that novel, “The Battle for Kerwindor”, was completed in early October, 2008.  I completed the last major wave of edits on that one in July, 2009.

I also completed the second draft on novel number two, “The Waterfall Stone” in July, 2009.

I have continued writing various projects, including a screenplay co-written with my friend Marty that placed in the quarter finals in the Screenwriting Expo Cyberspace Open.   I am also bouncing around early ideas on my third novel.  When the weather turns yucky, I tend to write more, so let the leaves fall where they may, I suppose.

I see you’re giving me that look.  I’ve talked too much, haven’t I?  I must say, I’m very glad you stopped by.  Feel free to look around, perhaps even read a short story of mine or two, or listen to some of the samples of my music.

Oh, and on your way out, before you close the door behind you, would you sign the guest book?  I love remembering friends who have visited, but sadly, as I get older… the memory tends to slip a bit…
